Letter of Invitation to the Call of The Time Dialouge in February 2001

November 1, 2000

Dear Freinds :

I am writing to invite you to participate in an international dialogue that is being convened in February 2001 in Mt. Abu, India. This dialogue will bring together people with leadership responsibility whose work takes them onto the field of world service. Together we will consider the question "What is the time calling us to do?" It will be the largest dialogue to date in a dialogue series that has come to be called "The Call-of-the-Time Dialogues."

This dialogue series has been conceived to provide a place for people in positions of influence and responsibility to gather and reflect on what is unfolding in our world and to respond to the call for new types of leadership at all levels. We are writing to invite you to participate in this dialogue and retreat on "Globalization, Leadership, and Love" to be held from Saturday evening February 10th through lunch on Wednesday February 14th in Mt. Abu, India, on the campus of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University for a Better World.

Each person who is invited to this gathering is a leader in his or her own domain, contributing in unique ways in business, government, education, and public affairs. Each is working to build institutions responsive to the extraordinary challenges of the 21st century. Each is striving to embody a style of leading that integrates faith and reason, the secular and the sacred. Each is trying to integrate the growth and development of their inner lives with their work in the "outer" world.

This dialogue will focus on the deepest questions that lie at the heart of each person's service relative to the urgencies of our time. It will enable us to reflect on our own personal unfolding. There will be generous spaces of time for silence and contemplation and for personal conversations with other participants as well as with the senior yogis of the hosting organization, the Brahma Kumaris.

Our hope for this gathering is that we arrive at a new way of understanding and speaking about the extraordinary challenges and opportunities of our time, and that what we evolve together in February can be amplified and explored further in future dialogues around the world. We believe that a bond will be created among those present that will translate into ongoing spiritual, moral, and intellectual support.

We have taken great care to invite people who are seeking to make unique contributions in the world. Please plan to join us, as your presence and voice at this gathering will make a difference. We have enclosed a copy of a declaration prepared by past Call-of-the-Time Dialogue participants for this year's State-of-the-World Forum held in New York City. This declaration was delivered at the closing plenary session on September 10th. It will give you a better idea of the ideas and aspirations of the network of participants in this dialogue series.

Please respond by Friday December 1st, to our coordinator Gayatri Naraine, by phone (212) 688-1335, fax (212) 504-2798, or email: feb2001@callofthetime.com

Those of you with email addresses are being sent this letter by email only. Should you require a hard copy for visa or other purposes, kindly let us know as soon as possible so that we can send the letter by mail. Thank you.

We look forward to having you with us in Mt. Abu in February.

With Kind Regards,

Dadi Janki Co-administrative Chief Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University
